Jennie Finch, 2010 ISF World Championships gold-medalist, announced her retirement from USA Softball today. The announcement came during the 2010 “World Cup of Softball” Media Day.
Finch’s retirement is said to take affect following this year’s world cup competition in Oklahoma City, Okla.; the decision ends her 10-year career with the team.
In addition to winning an ISF World Championship, Finch helped the USA earn a silver medal in the 2008 Olympics, and a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics in the sport of softball.
She is considered by TIME Magazine to be the “most famous softball player in history”.

Closing in on 900 career victories, Muskingum University head softball coach Donna Newberry is a legend in the sport of fastpitch softball.
In her 36 years guiding the NCAA Division III Muskies, Newberry has become the winningest coach in D-III history. In the process she set a standard for success capturing 11 consecutive OAC Championships (1998-2008) to go with 18 NCAA tournament appearances, eight trips to the World Series and one National Championship in 2001.
On December 12, 2008, Newberry was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame. This video recaps her career to this point, as past players reflect on what it was like to play for a legend and how Newberry changed their lives forever.
