    because in softball …
    because in softball if the batter hits a fly ball and the ball is caught out then you as a runner have to run back to your base. if the ball beats you back to the base then YOUUURRRR OUT!!! lol.

    but yeah, its good to lead off about a little more than a quarter way to the next base. that’s what i do. gets you closer to the next base while not putting you at risk for a forceout.
