The damage was caused with the back hatch open. No i didnt do it myself i made the mistake of letting my friend drive my Jeep on some trail.
If you are in any way mechanically inclined it is not hard at all to pull the pannel off of the door/hatch and simply push dent out by hand or with wooden or rubber tool of some sort.
After pannel has been carefullly removed, dent pushed out, then simply reassemble door and grab some turtle wax and "get to buffing". MUCH cheaper than paying a shop to do the very same thing. How much is turtle wax?? like 10 bucks maybe.
Then there is always a more technical way of doing such a job…. go to hardware store and, purchase the strongest suction cup you can find, to pull dent then wax and, guess what still cheaper.

check out "paintless dent removal" in the yellow pages or google….it involves the technician sticking a "wand" inside the panel or door or whatever, and them they "massage" the panel back to it’s original form…..they usually charge around $100-125 a quarter panel, with unlimited "dings" fixed…..I usually go every two years or so to ALL the parking dings rubbed out at once to save money….worth every penny !

A little thing I like to call Cajun mechanics 101
Generally, that sounds like $500 worth of damage – just enough to keep your insurance out of it if you have a high deductable.
