I have played for over 10 years, and I am definitely NOT a lesbian.
Whats up with this sterotype?
Im 18 years old, and my aunt who I’m very close with is a lesbian.
So it isnt that Im ignorant to all that, I just do not understand.
Thats how people are, keep playing the game you love and just ignore them.
people are just stupid and want to assume that softball is for lesbians. you are probally young and wouldn’t know a lesbian lol.

Because in some peoples minds, softball [or baseball] is more of a mans sport. You must be a tomboy to play the sport is what they say. That is false also. I played softball for one summer and there were mostly preppy straight females on the team. Some are just ignorant.

I am a lesbian, and I’ve played for about 6-7 years, but this stereotype has always confused me. ‘Cause most of the people I have played with are definitely not gay! Actually, some of the girliest, preppiest, straight girls I know play softball.

dats just cuz deres movies about dat… nd stupid people assume that girls who play sports and can throw harder then a guy are lesbian or if the sumtimes dress sporty dey tink dat too… i hate that stereotype cuz i play dat sport nd im deffinetly not lesbian or bi

That’s weird. I play softball and I’m not a lesbian (I don’t have anything against them, though.)
I think that people who don’t like them or know them believe lesbians to be more manly and softball is a rough sport. Of course, if they opened their eyes, they would know that that is very stereotypical and not true.

because there happen to be some lesbians that play softball, but the majority of women who play are straight. it’s a stereotype because the lesbians are more noticed because they don’t blend in with the rest of them. just like black people happen to like fried chicken and watermelon when the majority of the rest of the entire human race does as well, but because they are a different color they stand out more so it’s pointed out as a stereotype?
what i’m thinking might only be making sense in my head.

Softball? pffftt.
Try women’s rugby. Now I could definitely see THAT as a lesbian sport. I saw this girl (who happens to be a lesbian) who’s on the women’s rugby team here at my college. She had a bumper sticker that said "Rugby IS my feminine side. " LOL..I loved it.

because a lot of lesbians feel a comfort in playing softball rather than any other sports but I agree not all lesbians play softball. we play all sports of course.
