The Olympic committee is toying around w/ the idea of taking out softball/baseball, badminton, and tug of war. I am all behind tug of war being taken out, but softball?
Which sports would you choose to take out of the olympics and why?

   the equestrian events. That is not a sport, it’s a privileged people’s pastime that is closer to dog handling/breeding/grooming than athletics.

   i think tennis should be taken out because there is already a major competition – wimbledon.

   I would vote for all the sports that require a judge (i.e. diving, figure skating, etc.). They weigh too heavily on someone’s opinion of how you look/play. You don’t win on ability, just weather or not the judge likes you.

   Also, to everyone who says equestrian sports should be removed, you’ve obviously never been on a horse in you life. The point is to make things look easy, that is the point. The equestrian events are incredibly difficult.

   I didn’t even realize tug of war is in the Olympics. Where have I been? What do they categorize that under because I’ve never seen it. For sure take it out though!

   I could live without softball/baseball. Rhythmic gymnastics too. Dancing with ribbons is too pretty to be a sport.

    I would eliminate Lawn Tennis as an Olympic sport. Professional tennis is played almost year round so it is not something I look forward to seeing during a quadrennial event like Olympic games.

    Baseball should not be eliminated because it is mostly an amateur sport outside of the Americas, in my opinion. I think professionals should be ineligible for participation in Olympic baseball/softball.
